THE HISTORY OF DISTRICT 1250

A District of England in Europe.

Prepared by the district and not verified by Rotary Global History

Covers West Sussex, part of East Sussex including Brighton and part of Surrey. We have 60 clubs with 1,950 Rotarians and three Interact Clubs. Rotary District 1250 commenced activities on 1st July 1982. Starting with 39 clubs, the district has now grown to 60 clubs with just under 2000 Rotarians. Last year they celebrated these 25 years with a Silver Anniversary District Conference in Bournemouth. Brighton Club is the oldest club in the district being No. 9 in Great Britain and Ireland, followed by Chichester (No. 26), Guildford (No. 50) and Worthing (No 69). We have recently formed our first Interact Club in Chichester sponsored by RC of Chichester Priory, plus a new Rotaract Club sponsored by Chichester Harbour. The latest club is Gatwick Diamond which enjoyed its inaugral meeting in June 2007.
